Bio

Lea Elleseff (alternatively just LSF)
I am a visual artist who lives and works in the Village of Freeville, NY. I see art as a process of synthesis, the semi-intentional changes that are conjured from infinite amount of dialectics.
My first solo show of paintings is called What Makes This Place So Beautiful? It is a culmination of five years of painting that capture the landscapes I encounter every day around my home and rural village. The question embodied in each work is simply, what makes this place so beautiful? Read more about this body of work and view all the art in this GALLERY.. The show premiered in my gallery called Sky Factory in the summer of 2025.
Currently, my active line of exploration is abstract painting through soak-staining, and multi-media layering on large swaths of un-primed, un-stretched canvas. One day I am sure I will understand why I'm doing this.
I work to make art more visible in the everyday experience of people, by creating works of art on clothing. To view the collection of the art on clothing galleries click here.
When I'm not in my studio, I am in the woods, fields and bogs, soaking up the vibrations of all the life found therein. I am also perennially gardening, community organizing and hanging out with my two very creative children. Lastly, I'd like to mention that I above most things I love music, and listen to it often while I make art. The music, like the birds and flowers of the forest, like the enthusiasm of my children, an so on, becomes part of any work I make.
