Lily, Sharon and I recently visited a friend at D Acres, and I for one did not want to leave. In my short time there I learned a ton and had a hell of a time in the meanwhile.

I’ve been on farms before, but this experience was singular. The big difference is that this is not a farm only for the production of food for sale, but a non-profit aimed at educating the public on many different aspects of sustainable living. They only grow enough for themselves, their guests, and one farmer’s market a week (which they go to mostly to spread the word about their organization). (more…)
In May I was commissioned by the Township of West Orange NJ to paint a giant fiber-glass recycling bin. Mine will be one out of a dozen or so bins to be placed around the town as a part of an art installation associated with the mayor’s Energy Diet campaign. There is an opening party for this on June 21st, which happens to be this Saturday. If anyone wants to come out, let me know and I’ll give you the scoop. This is my first payed art piece and I look forward to more in the future, far or near.

Once you buy land, the next step is to camp on it with as many of your loved ones as you can gather. This Memorial Day Weekend we had a great turn out around the fire on our 16 acres of piece of mind.
